Most adults have amber colored forewings while alive. There are 10 species of Cinygmula in North America, however there are only these three species reported from Colorado.

1a. Each penis with a distinct lateral spine near the base on ventral surface.
1b. Penes without lateral spines.

2a. Median titillators long and prominent. Penes bilobed at apex.
2b. Median titillators short. Penes not bilobed at apex.
